INTERNI LEGACY – FuoriSalone Exhibitions in Milan University

Last Sunday “Milan Design Week 2012” is officially finished but if you are not satisfied yet, there is an exposition that is possible to visit until 28^th of April.

La scorsa domenica è terminata ufficialmente la “Milan Design Week 2012” ma se non siete ancora soddisfatti, c’è un’esposizione che è ancora possibile visitare sino al 28 Aprile.


It’s the exhibition organized by the Interiors and Contemporary Design magazine INTERNI, in the State University of Milan in via Festa del Perdono in Milan.

The exposition is based on the concept of “Legacy” left by great masters of the past to new generations in terms of research, technology and ways to decrease waste.

Si tratta dell’esposizione organizzata dalla rivista di Interiors e Contemporary Design INTERNI, presso l’Università Statale di via Festa del Perdono a Milano.

L’esposizione si basa sul concetto di “Eredità” lasciata dai maestri di Ieri agli interpreti di Oggi in termini di ricerca, tecnologie e riduzione degli sprechi.


Pure Design Installations that among shapes, materials and colors had totally enchanted me. Here’s below I show you some pictures I took last week at the exposition with some notes about my fav installations:

Installazioni di pure Design che tra forme, materiali e concetti mi hanno totalmente rapito e incantato! Qui sotto vi mostro alcune foto dell’esposizione, scattate da me la scorsa settimana, accompagnate da alcune note sulle installazioni che più mi hanno colpito:


3D X1 MULTI SLICE VIEW - A perspective game created with a cube measuring 4.5 m on each side, made with 31 slabs of Maximum, technical porcelain stoneware - Designer Odile Decq.

SURFACE – Iconic scenography made of a series of 9 vertical surfaces decorated with different colors and patterns, printed in Digital Inkjetting. A reflection on the theme of tradition meant as transition from history to future, of a pure and light aesthetics. Designers Alessandro and Francesco Mendini.

EAU VIVE – Stone and water, solidity and inertia, opposites that attract in nature: a platform made in White Rhino material and Cardoso stone for a minipool – Designers Ludovica and Roberto Palomba.

ARROW – A seat cut from a single 25-ton block of Carrara marble. An arrow reaching to the sky becomes the point of intersection of architecture, design and sculpture. The unique piece is created exclusively for the White Moon Gallery of Paris – Designer ORA ITO.

ARCHITECT’S EYE - An artificial steel eye that reflects the architecture around it and reproduces the reactions of the pupil, transmitting sensations of surprise , fear and shock for monument-symbols of architecture threatened with destruction – Designers Speech Tchoban & Kuznetsov.

International Day of the Book

For today I had planned to post something about "Milan Design Week” that finished yesterday but then I remembered that today is “The International Day of the Book” or to better say “World Book and Copyright Day”.
So here’s I am ready to change my plans because I think this topic worths a nice post.

Per oggi avevo in programma un post sul Fuori Salone che è terminato ieri a Milano, poi mi sono ricordata che oggi è la “Giornata Mondiale del Libro”. 
Così eccomi subito pronta a cambiare i miei programmi perché penso che questo argomento meriti un bel post.

UNESCO declared April 23rd International Book Day in 1995, but it has been celebrated as such in Spain since 1923.

UNESCO ha dichiarato il 23 aprile “Giornata Mondiale del Libro” nel 1995. Questa Giornata in realtà ha origini storiche in Spagna, dove si celebra sin dal 1923.

The reason why this day was chosen to represent the book is that two of the greatest writers in the world, Miguel de Cervantes and William Shakespeare, died on 23^rdApril 1616, and in the case of Shakespeare, he was also born on that day in 1564.

Il motivo per cui viene reso omaggio ai “Libri” il 23 aprile è perché proprio in questa data che morirono due dei più grandi scrittori mondiali. Sto parlando di Miguel de Cervantes (Famosissimo per il “Don Chisciotte”) e di William Shakespeare, che nacque sempre in questa data nel 1564.

April 23^rd is the Day of the Book but that doesn't mean that we should forget about them for the rest of 364 days.

Il 23 aprile è La Giornata Mondiale del Libro ma questo non significa che i libri vadano dimenticati per i restanti 364 giorni.

By reading a book you can live other lives, feel what character of the books and writers themselves felt and travel with them all over the world.

Attraverso la lettura possiamo vivere altre vite, provare le emozioni e i sentimenti dei personaggi e degli autori stessi e viaggiare con loro in giro per il mondo.

My tribute to books and to this Day goes by an amazing short film “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore” wrote and directed by William Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg.

Il mio omaggio ai Libri e a questa Giornata va attraverso un meraviglioso cortometraggio intitolato “The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore” diretto e scritto da William Joyce e co-diretto da Brandon Oldenburg.

This beautiful short movie is Oscar-winner as best short animation movie at the Oscars 2012. If you are interested, it’s also available as IPad App and soon as a book.

Questo bellissimo cortometraggio è vincitore dell’Oscar 2012 nella categoria Miglior Cortometraggio d’Animazione. Se siete interessati, è disponibile come applicazione per IPad ed presto come libro.

NODUS Design Rugs Event - Fuori Salone 2012

Monday evening has started “my Fuori Salone”, a bit early than the official calendar of April 17-22. As I told you in a previous post, I went to a cocktail event of Nodus rugs collection.

Lunedi sera è iniziato il “mio Fuori Salone”, in anticipo rispetto al calendario ufficiale del 17-22 aprile. Come vi avevo anticipato in un post precedente, sono andata all’aperitivo di presentazione della collezione tappeti Nodus.

Nodus is a creative laboratory and cultural project, where craftsmanship and the oldest tradition and knowledge in the art of carpet design from different part of the world, are reinterpreted by international designers and architects with their audacity and creativity vision and testing different materials and shapes.

Nodus è un laboratorio creativo e un progetto culturale, dove l'artigianato e la tradizione delle migliori manifatture di tappeti al mondo, sono reinterpretati da designer e architetti di profilo internazionale attraverso la loro audacia e visione creativa sperimentando sempre nuovi materiale e nuove forme.

The result is a collection of amazing rugs handcrafted knot-by-knot, created in six countries of the world (Nepal, Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, China and Turkey) verifying materials, techniques, expert craftsmen and ethical production.

Il risultato è una collezione di meravigliosi tappeti, interamente annodati a mano, creati in sei paesi del mondo (Nepal, Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, Cina, Turchia) selezionati per materiali, tecniche, perizia degli artigiani ed eticità della produzione.

Location for this event was an amazing cloister of Faculty of Theology (via dei Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro 3) in Brera Design District.

Location di questo evento era un meraviglioso chiostro della Facoltà di Teologia (via dei Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro 3) nel Brera Design District. 

A wonderful rugs collection, so elegantly exhibited was able to create a magic and charming effect. It was a perfect enhancement for these rugs easily definable as authentic objects art.

Una meravigliosa esposizione di tappeti, così elegantemente esposti ha creato un piacevole effetto magico e intrigante. E’ stata la giusta esaltazione per dei tappeti che sono più definibili come autentiche opere d’arte.

In the cozy atmosphere of the cloister, I pleasantly enjoyed a nice evening with some friends and entirely appreciated the exposition of Nodus Rugs that here I show you with some of my pics.

Nell’atmosfera avvolgente e intima del chiostro, ho trascorso una piacevole serata con amici e interamente apprezzato la collezione di tappeti Nodus che qui vi mostro con alcuni dei miei scatti.

Milan Design Week and Fuori Salone 2012

Hi guys! how was your weekend? Mine was really good, Saturday I did some shopping and Sunday I enjoyed a nice day in total relax with my husband expect for a flying visit at IKEA in the late afternoon (Actually 2 hours!! :P).

Ciao ragazzi com’è andato il weekend? Il mio molto bene direi, Sabato ho fatto un pò di shopping mentre Domenica ho trascorso una piacevole giornata in totale relax con mio marito salvo una piccola tappa all’IKEA nel tardo pomeriggio ( veramente 2 ore!! :P).

What about you? I know today is Monday and I also know that weather in Milan is not so good in these days…but guys who cares?! It’s finally arrived the Milan Design Week 2012 with thousands of visitors and interesting events and expositions at Rho Official Exhibition and all around the city.

E voi come state? Lo so che oggi è lunedì e so anche che il clima a Milano non è dei migliori in questi giorni. Ma a chi importa?! E’ finalmente arrivata la settimana del Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2012 e Milano sarà invasa da migliaia di visitatori e tantissimi interessanti eventi ed esposizioni a Rho Fiera ed in giro per la città.

Have you already planned to go to some parties and events for this week? I’m surely going to “ISaloni Exposition” at Rho Fiera and for my week’ plan we will see.

Avete già pianificato di andare a qualche festa ed eventi per questa settimana? Beh io sto ancora lavorando alla mia lista ma sicuramente andrò a “I Saloni” a Rho Fiera e per il mio programma della settimana si vedrà.

My intention is to go as many events and expositions as possible; I’ll try to write many posts as I can and to take millions of pictures to let you know all about interesting finds and new design trends for 2012.

La mia intenzione è di andare al maggior numero di eventi ed esposizioni possibili; Cercherò inoltre di scrivere molti post e scattare milioni di foto così da tenervi aggiornati e farvi sapere d’interessanti scoperte e di eventuali nuovi trend per il 2012.

A lovely corner

What that I really like about a house…is the emotions it is able to give me.

Quello che mi piace di una casa…sono le emozioni che riesce a trasmettermi.

There is no a specific room I consider my favorite or to which I dedicate all my attentions with respect to furniture, décor, or simply how to live it.

Non c’è un ambiente in particolare che reputo il mio preferito o al quale dedico tutte le mie attenzioni su come arredarlo, decorarlo o semplicemente viverlo.

I believe that every single room and house corner communicate different feelings to each of us and therefore each of them has a specific role.

Credo che ogni ambiente ed angolo di una casa comunichi qualcosa di diverso a ognuno di noi e abbia una sua specifica funzione.

Yes of course, there are some basic destinations for each room such as the kitchen for eating or the bathroom for having shower etc. But this is not what I mean.

Si certo, ci sono le funzioni di base per ciascuna stanza della casa come ad esempio la cucina per mangiare, il bagno per lavarsi etc. Ma non è quello cheintendo.

Each of us has is own “corner” or a place to retire from the rest of the world, by which to be cuddled or where to find the right inspiration and concentration for specific activities; that corner is not always a conventional or classic place.

Ognuno di noi ha il suo “ambiente” ossia quel luogo in cui “scappare” dal mondo, dal quale farsi coccolare o dove trovare la giusta ispirazione e concentrazione per determinate attività; quel luogo non sempre corrisponde al più classico o convenzionale.

There are people who love the bathroom for reading or studying, others who love the kitchen for painting or to be creative; there are people who instead prefer the bedroom floor for writing or composing music etc.

C’è chi ama il bagno per leggere o studiare, chi la cucina per dipingere e creare non necessariamente “piatti da mangiare”, chi invece il pavimento della stanza da letto per scrivere o comporre musica etc.

What does really matter is that you shouldn’t neglect these feelings… don’t undervalue these moments and most of all you should “love” these places because they are our nest and our vital lymph.

Quello che conta è che non si dovrebbero trascurare quelle sensazioni…non sottovalutare quei momenti e soprattutto dovremmo “amare” quegli ambienti perché sono il nostro nido e la nostra linfa vitale.

In my way to live the house…doesn’t exist an “end” …everything is in a continuous evolution. Every object, every place, every corner changes because I do change every day as well.

Nel mio modo di vivere la casa…non esiste un punto di arrivo…tutto è in continua evoluzione. Ogni oggetto, ogni luogo, ogni angolo cambia perché anch’io cambio ogni giorno.

For me, the love for details and the personalization of spaces and corners are key words about living a house and avoiding that those details, those elements remain just simple home décor. These should instead became part of our memories and our life… well this is what makes a house alive!

Per me, l’amore per i dettagli e la personalizzazione degli spazi e corner sono le parole chiave su come vivere la casa e fare in modo che quei dettagli e quegli elementi non restino solo semplici oggetti di arredo e invece diventino parte dei nostri ricordi e della nostra vita…beh questo rende la casa viva!
